How Muse Gadget Works — AI Mascot, Hardware & Car Edition

Muse Gadget · explained

Muse Gadget is a Wi-Fi companion device with a friendly AI mascot. It has a custom Muse SoC, a 5-inch colour display and USB-C power, and it was designed in-house by Skytech. The Car Audio Edition is built on Meta’s Muse platform and SDK. This page explains how the pieces fit together, what the device does and, just as important, what it does not do.

This page is published by Skytech Creations (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the manufacturer. It is not Meta’s website. For the product overview, roadmap and pilot terms see the Muse Gadget page; for the vehicle application see the Car Audio Edition.

Software layer

The AI mascot and the software layer

The mascot is the face of the product: a friendly AI character that lives on the 5-inch display. The Car Audio Edition pages state that both car products run on Meta’s official Muse gadget platform and SDK, and that the voice service runs through a managed subscription layer with a limited free tier.

Conversational voice

In the car, the Muse agent answers spoken requests such as “warm up my car” instead of making the owner open an app.

Voice Hub

A separate product: an ESP32-S3 hub paired with true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds for push-to-talk conversation with the Muse agent, with replies in the user’s own language and no phone in the loop.

Muse app

The Voice Hub is described as add-device ready in the Muse app, so users connect it like a first-party gadget.

Over-the-air updates

On the car unit, new TPMS and OBD2 profiles and new vehicle models are added over the air, with no dealer firmware trip.

Hardware

What is inside

There are two hardware stages on the site. Module 1 (v1) is the desktop companion. The v1.5 Car Edition adds five components and is described as an engineering build.

Module 1 (v1) — companion

Custom Muse SoC, 5-inch colour display, USB-C powered, Wi-Fi connectivity, AI mascot. Designed in-house.

Details and roadmap on the Muse Gadget page.

4G (data-only)

LTE Cat-1 modem on M.2, always on, even when the car is parked. It carries dashcam uploads, remote-start commands and over-the-air updates. It is data-only.

v1.5 Car Edition

Wi-Fi 6 hotspot

The 4G uplink is bridged to a Wi-Fi 6 access point for passengers’ phones, tablets and laptops.

v1.5 Car Edition

Bluetooth (BLE)

Pairing channel for TPMS sensors, OBD2 diagnostic adapters and remote-start modules. The Muse Gadget page lists BLE 5.5.

v1.5 Car Edition

GNSS

Multi-constellation (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou) for vehicle location, “where is my car” queries, sentry mode and trip logging.

v1.5 Car Edition

Camera

Forward-facing dashcam footage while driving. In sentry mode (parked) it watches for motion and uploads 30-second clips over 4G.

v1.5 Car Edition

The car unit also takes vehicle power through a 12V to 5V buck converter (listed on the Muse Gadget page).

Limits

What Muse Gadget is not

Not a phone

No voice-call capability at all, not even WhatsApp calls. The 4G link is data-only: no voice calls, no VoLTE.

Not a music player

Spotify is remote control only. Muse controls playback on a paired phone over BLE (“play jazz”, “next track”, “volume up”). The phone streams the music and must be connected to the car stereo.

Not an infotainment replacement

It sits alongside the existing head unit rather than replacing it.

Not a retail product

Pilot deployments only, with no retail price. The site describes it as a proof-of-capability build.

Vehicle use cases

Six things Muse Gadget does in the car

These are the scenarios documented on the Car Audio Edition page for the v1.5 vehicle gadget. The full scenarios, animations and hardware notes are there: Muse Gadget Car Audio Edition.

Dog mode

Parked in 35°C sun, you say “turn on dog mode” (or it auto-detects from cabin temperature). Muse rolls the windows down 5 cm, starts the engine and AC to 22°C, checks every 5 minutes and shuts off when the cabin reaches 24°C, with a 15-minute safety shutoff.

Needs: remote-start module, OBD2 ambient temperature sensor, aftermarket window control.

Voice remote start

Three minutes from the car, earbuds in: “Muse, I’ll be there in 3 minutes, start the car.” The engine starts and the cabin warms to 22°C (25°C in winter), with a 10-minute auto-shutoff.

Needs: Voice Hub (TWS earbuds) and a remote-start module.

TPMS alert

A front-right tire drops from 32 to 26 PSI. Muse reads it from the paired TPMS BLE sensors, pushes an alert and confirms by voice.

Needs: four TPMS BLE sensors (one per tire) and the Muse gadget.

OBD2 vehicle health

Muse reads OBD2 codes, battery voltage, oil life and brake wear over CAN bus and reports them, for example “Battery 12.4V (healthy), oil 32% remaining.”

Needs: OBD2 BLE adapter and the Muse gadget.

GNSS trip history

“Muse, send me my route from 12pm to 2pm yesterday.” Muse plots the GNSS log on a map and sends a link with distance, duration and max speed.

Needs: the Muse gadget (built-in multi-constellation GNSS).

Gas-station fuel prompt

On pulling into a gas station, detected by GNSS, Muse asks how many litres you added, logs fuel and odometer (via OBD2) and calculates km/L.

Needs: the Muse gadget, OBD2 for odometer, voice response.

Manufacturer

Who builds it, where, and what you can order

Muse Gadget is designed and built by Skytech. This site is the Thailand arm, Skytech Creations (Thailand) Co., Ltd., part of Skytech Creations Limited, a Hong Kong OEM/ODM electronics manufacturer founded in 2003. The Skytech group has been an Apple MFi licensee since 2011 (Hong Kong license #120974) and the Thailand company holds MFi license #859306.

The Muse Gadget page states that Module 1 is designed in-house and manufactured in Dongguan, China. The Car Audio Edition page describes white-label OEM manufacturing at Skytech’s Thailand facility in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Chon Buri, and states that Skytech is a long-standing OEM manufacturer for AAMP Global / Stinger Solutions. Engineering is in China; factories are in Thailand and Dongguan.

What you can order

Pilot deployments: single-digit pilot runs, terms discussed case by case with the engineer who built it, module bill of materials starting at $20 per module.

Demo

A 60-minute in-person walkthrough of the working devices is offered for the car audio channel, covering dealer install, onboarding and commercial structure.

OEM and white label

The Car Audio Edition page describes a white-label model: Skytech brings firmware, platform and manufacturing; the channel partner brings brand, distribution and dealer network.
